Our Group has been setup to advocate for the residences and community for the Goorambat and Stewarton area.

We feel that the new Battery Energy System (BESS) at Goorambat East Solar System by Engie and the new Renewable Energy Zone, (REZ) By VicGrid have not taken into account the concerns and impacts on the community

We are here to get our concerns across to Regulators, Political parties, companies and all parties that these changes may impact

What we know so far

The new BESS is to be installed less than 1.3 Kilometres form the township of Goorambat along the Goorambat Chesney RD. At the initial planning permit the Benalla Rural Shire and the residences asked the question,” Will there ever be batteries installed at the Solar Facility?”

The Answer was NO. When Neoen Sold the project to Engie they sold it with the permit stating that while batteries are not in the initial stages, there is scope within the plan to have batteries.

We are now 2 years into the project and Engie are stating, “We cannot make the site viable without batteries”.
